Annie Leibovitz’s Debut Hong Kong Solo Exhibit @ Sundaram Tagore
In 1980, Annie Leibovitz photographed John Lennon, au naturel, cuddling up to Yoko Ono for the cover of Rolling Stone. The idea was to recreate the passionate kissing scene from the cover of Double Fantasy, an album the couple had recently worked on. A few hours after the photo shoot, Lennon got shot again – only this time, he got shot by a mentally ill person with a gun, not a photographer with a camera. The dramatic event changed the story of the Rolling Stone cover shoot: “It became more about a last kiss, a parting moment,” said Leibovitz.

Retrospective on Giorgio di Sant’ Angelo
“[Giorgio di Sant' Angelo] was quite commanding at times,” said Martin Price, design assistant and partner of the late designer. “And you always had to be on [the] pulse. He was constantly moving forward; he was a whirlwind. He would do million things [within] one minute, and you had to keep up with him. It was exciting all the time; there was never a dull moment.” [1]

“Cecil Beaton: The New York Years” Displays Works of the Photo Legend
Legendary English photographer Cecil Beaton moved from England to New York in 1928 and made a name for himself between the 20s and 70s. His varied interests, intense curiosity, and unique talents had driven him to explore new fields, from fashion and portrait photography to painting and interior designing, putting his own creative stamp on each of these pursuits. As if those weren’t impressive enough, the late photographer was also an Academy Award-winning stage and costume designer for films and the theatre. In 1970, he was named to the International Best Dressed List Hall of Fame. [Enjoy: Cecil Beaton: Photographs 1920-1970]
