In June 2010, Daphne Guinness surprised the world of fashion by buying the entire collection of her late friend Isabella Blow‘s wardrobe to prevent it from being auctioned off. Admitting that it was “probably the maddest decision ever,” the heiress explained [1]:
I thought what’s going to happen is [the pieces are] going to be lost. [Blow] had an incredible eye and she truly loved her pieces. They’re like a diary. I didn’t want to buy them and wear them. I wanted to buy them and keep them because I think it’s very interesting for students and people who are interested in fashion to see.

At an exclusive tour of the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty exhibit last year, Guinness had already talked about presenting Blow’s lot via a virtual museum and possibly taking them on tour [1]. Few days ago at a discussion hosted by Charlie Rose, Guinness finally confirmed to put Blow’s wardrobe on display through an online exhibit, which will be accessible by the masses [2]. The actual collection will be housed at Central Saint Martins.
Given that two of Guinness’s closest friends, Blow and Lee Alexander McQueen, had taken their own lives due to depression, the style icon also revealed that she’s planning to create a foundation to raise awareness of mental health.
